When the Innovation Center opened in 2003 – in one of the first buildings in the Business, Technology and Research Park – the concept made sense: Create an environment where life science and technology businesses can grow. Nearly 20 years later, the center – now part of the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine – looks back on an impressive history of doing just that.
A few stats: The center boasts more than 350 companies served, over 500 jobs created and millions in angel and venture capital funds invested – and more than 100 patents issued to resident companies.
Click to hear Assistant Dean of the Innovation Center Sandra Cochrane shed light on how the center works – and how some companies have spun off from the center or have been purchased.
