United Way of Jackson County, Michigan won't be the first such organization to merge with others like it. In fact, the other two United Way organizations in the merger – Capital Area United Way of the Lansing area and the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region – have both undertaken successful mergers of their own.
In this episode, UWJC CEO Ken Toll speaks of practical experience in which Jackson County has lost out on resources because of its relatively small size – and how banding together to help form the United Ways of South Central Michigan will mean greater impact for all the communities involved.
